Last Thursday, LinkedIn removed my account, and people keep asking me "why?"

I’m more focused on the → “how to not get restricted again” part.

This was the why:

And since recovery, I’ve received instructions on how to protect my account going forward and I think it’d be wise to share this information with other members.

You may find some of these steps obvious, but even if it helps 1 person protect their account, it’s my obligation to share it.

Follow these 3 steps to protect your account:

1. Turn on two-step verification

Settings and Privacy >> Sign-in and Security >> Two-step Verification

2. Keep your contact information up-to-date:

Settings and Privacy >> Sign-in and Security >> Email Address

Settings and Privacy >> Sign-in and Security >> Phone Number

3. Add secondary contact information (most important)

If you lose access to your primary email, this becomes your backup for recovery and LinkedIn support.

Settings and Privacy >> Sign-in and Security >> Email Address

Settings and Privacy >> Sign-in and Security >> Phone Number

Don't wait until it happens to you.

Go check your settings right now.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who raised a ticket, checked-in, and commented under Charlie’s post to help get my account back.

I see you. I appreciate you.

Best,
Fatima Khan
